Hello my name is Cassandra Cavallaro I am a senior at North Smithfield High School. I am contacting you to seek your business’ support for my senior project
You may be familiar with the Unified Sports program currently being run at 35 Rhode Island high schools and middle schools, but if not, I would like to give you a little information. Unified sports were introduced in 2008 and since its inception teams have slowly spread throughout the state of Rhode Island. The programs allow students with all different levels of special needs to compete for their school with the assistance of regular education students. Last year I joined the North Smithfield High Schools unified basketball team. The Unity Ball (a prom-like event for Unified Sports players) was organized by Alyssa Deslauriers, a recent North Smithfield High School graduate, as her senior project last year. Over 300 students and their coaches attended the ball. The prom was truly amazing. Alyssa did such a wonderful job that myself, Cassandra Cavallaro, and Megan Lefebvre our continuing the tradition and planning the 2015 Unity Ball for our very own senior project. For my senior project (a graduation requirement) I am responsible for all the fundraising for the Unified Sports Unity Ball 2015. Thirty two participating school districts in Rhode Island will be invited. This means there is a potential for roughly 500 students athletes to attend. This year’s Unity Ball will have a Hollywood theme and is being held March 20, 2015 from 6-11pm at the West Valley Inn. There will be a three course dinner, face painting, henna, photography as well as a Dj. We are hoping to make this an amazing experience for all students, athletes and partners alike. Many of the athletes will never have the opportunity to attend a prom and many of the partners will never again have the opportunity to attend a pressure free prom. In previous years the Unity Ball was held at completely no cost to all attendees, and we plan to make the ball free of charge this year as well. In order to do this we need to raise 12,000 dollars. As you can imagine, that is a great undertaking for two 17 year olds but we are very determined and excited. We are actively fundraising for the event which is why I am reaching out to you personally to seek your support. Every donation counts, no matter how large or small. The Unity Ball is a nonprofit event. If you would like your donation to qualify for tax exemption make your check payable to the NSAA noting "Unity Ball 2015" in the memo of your check and mail your donation to the North Smithfield High School, ATTN: Unity Ball, 412 Greenville Road, North Smithfield, RI 02896. I have enclosed a form listing our donation levels. I hope you will consider donating to this once in a lifetime night for our Rhode Island special student athletes. Please contact me with any questions that you may have. My cell number is (401)340-7846 and my email is cavallarocassandra@gmail.com.
